LBK’s 115th dream

I would have been 10 or 11 years old in 1972. I didn’t know of Bob Dylan’s 115th Dream till 1980, but just imagine if I had. I would’ve for sure performed it in the talent show, of which there were many. When you watch the video, pretend we’re in the auditorium of one of the schools where we would have staged this, since we didn’t have an auditorium at Brightwood School when I attended. They did eventually get one, along with a cafeteria, which we also didn’t have, after I and the Class of ‘75 were long gone. Back in those days, none of the mostly elderly residents of Monterey Park could see any reason why they should raise their own taxes to cover a strictly unnecessary auditorium and/or cafeteria for a bunch of undeserving brats. They were right. But Brightwood School eventually got its “cafetorium,” because you can’t stop progress, nor can you stop a determined group of elementary school parents rampaging through your neighborhood bearing petitions and Girl Scout cookies.
